Locking iphone

My brother has been using iphone xs max for about 6 months , he changed to 11 pro max so we erased all the settings of the xs max one then when trying to activate it again with a new sim , the sim wasn’t valid! The iphone became locked!

Hello nouran240!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you’re trying to activate your brother’s old iPhone XS Max. You’ve provided us with great screenshots.

The screenshots show us that the SIM card you have is not from the same provider that the iPhone XS Max was previously used with. When you use an iPhone with a carrier, it becomes “locked” to that carrier. To use the iPhone with another carrier you will need to reach out to the carrier it is locked to, and request that they unlock it. This is something that only the wireless carrier can do.

Check out the information in this article for more details: How to unlock your iPhone for use with a different carrier

All the best!
