No Siri audio over Bluetooth.

On my 2014 Toyota Camry with my iPhone 11.

Siri’s voice will work for map directions. I also have Bluetooth audio for playing music or on a phone call.

However any interaction via “hey Siri” will fail to provide any audio. I can see she is summoned on screen. However she doesn’t listen or speak.

What I have noticed is if I tap the Bluetooth icon in the bottom right when Siri is on screen, I will see two entries for my car audio. When I select the other duplicate entry she will work for that single Siri session (i can then press the Siri icon and continue the conversation). If I dismiss her and then use Hey Siri again, she will be silent.

This occurs on iOS 13.0 to 13.1.3. It doesn’t affect my iPhone 8 Plus on iOS 12.

I have factory reset my iPhone 11 and deleted the Bluetooth pair and re-paired. Same issue.

This appears to be a bug with iOS 13 or the iPhone 11.

Other users have posted here with the same issue but not just for car audio but for external Bluetooth speakers.

I've been using the Feedback app to report my particular experience to Apple with each new Public Beta release. Still says "no similar reports."

Interesting clue: as some other have mentioned, if I turn off "Hey Siri" and just use the side button to activate Siri, it works fine for all things, including the back-and-forth confirmations for sending an iMessage. But "Hey Siri" always failed and responds on the iPhone screen.

Same issue with a Mazda CX-5 and 11 Pro Max. Asking something like "Hey Siri, what's the time?" will initially beep the car audio as if about to respond, then the car's screen displays "Call failed" and the time is displayed on the iPhone screen without any audio response. Worked fine with iOS 12 (though with a different iPhone). Maps, music, etc. work fine though. CarPlay also works as expected.

Please Help!!

Siri audio stopped working on MB ML350 Bluetooth with iphone11 update. Not all cars have CarPlay so for me this is a huge problem because Apple has disabled all Siri commands and Siri audio responses while I’m driving (except calls). Apple’s oversight has created a huge risk for drivers with iPhone 11.

Can iPhone 11 software be erased and and allow for a download older software that works?

The "Public Beta" is a "test," or preview version of the next iteration of iOS. It's NOT the official version. Apple allows Developers - and later the general public - to download and try them out - if you dare. The Public version is usually fairly safe - but there's always a risk they break something.

I haven't noticed any problems with this current Public Beta version 13.3.1.
