Deleting Desktop Pictures in Catalina

How can I delete individual desktop pictures and solid colors from the /Library/Desktop Pictures folder in OS Catalina? I would like to save the 2GB or so they take up, so I'd like to delete all but the startup image of Catalina and one solid color. I was able to move them to trash on previous versions of the Mac OS, but not this one.

Delete Pictures under "/System/Library/Desktop Pictures" MacOS Catalina. MacBookPro. The Pictures folder at "/System/Library/Desktop Pictures" has grown to an ABSURD 2.1GB, with several files like "Mojave Day.heic" reaching 287MB, among others. I DO need to free up space in my SSD. I don't need any of these files, my background is a solid black. Period. I tried sudo in a terminal, and also tried changing the permissions in the folder "info" window, to no avail. I am using a MacBook pro Early 2015, with MacOS Catalina 10.15.2 installed. Please, let us know how to delete the files in that folder. Thank you for your help.

Restoring erased 'Photo Library' files on MacBook Pro, Catalina 10.15.7 I've mistakenly erased a photolibrary. Under 'About This Mac' my storage indicates that the deleted files are still there, somewhere in the grey diagonal lines. Am I able to retrieve them? Unfortunately I erased these files when reinstalling the system software. Thanks for your help! Josh

You can't make changes to any folder under /System/Library/

In Catalina, the system volume is separate from the data volume (even though they appear as one in the Finder), and the system volume is read only.
