Error while trying to synchronise Audio and Midi

I've been using Garageband all week and today I'm getting an error message.

Sample rate 40,963 recognised.

Check conflict between Garageband and an external device.

I have a Scarlett 2i2 USB plugged in for the micro phone and headphones.

I can't see how to change the sample rate in Garageband preferences or system preferences or find preferences for the Scarlett 2i2 USB...

Please help!

open the AudioMidi Setup utility (in Applications/Utilities) and be sure it's set to 44.1k:
