In AirDrop on Catalina, there is no longer an option to select "Don't See Who You're Looking For?" and then on to select "Search for an older Mac". In my classroom studio I have varying models of iMacs. Some are older and my students use AirDrop extensively for file sharing. Is there a way to re-enable this feature so my newer Macs can still hand off files to older Macs via AirDrop?

i figured out a simple work-around solution, which is to set up file sharing instead of using airdrop
on your host mac, go to System Preference > Sharing > check "File Sharing".
on your receiving mac, open Finder > click on "Go" from the menu bar > select "Go to Folder" > type in smb://192.168.1.7(your IP address may be different)

I use file sharing over Bluetooth as a workaround between my 2009 iMac on HighSierra and my 2014 MacBook Air running Catalina. I can't seem to find any devices using Airdrop on my iMac - including iPhones and iPad which come up fine on the Air. I also don't see the "Allow me to be discovered by..." on the AirDrop page on the iMac?
how to solve this issue ? anybody find it or not ?
