number of rows in Numbers spreadsheet

What is the maximum number of rows that I can have in a Numbers spreadsheet? I am working in a Pages document, a Numbers spreadsheet in it, and I've gotten to 999 rows which looks like the maximum. Seriously?? Thanks for any information on this!

As far as I can tell there is definitely a hard limit of 999 rows in a table in Pages.

If your table in Numbers has more rows than that then perhaps you could try first inserting two tables into Pages and then pasting part of your Numbers data into the first one and the rest of the Numbers data into the second one.

Though there are similarities, including the formulas you can use, a Pages table and a Numbers table are not the same thing. You cannot have a "Numbers spreadsheet" in a Pages document.

A Pages table can have up to 999 rows.

A Numbers table can have many more rows, though performance often becomes sluggish once you have several thousand rows.

Yes, I’m thinking the problem is that when I brought the Numbers file into the Pages file, the parameters changed. I’ll have to play with it, going back to Numbers, increasing it, then going back to Pages to see what happens. If I’m really limited to 999, then that’s a bummer. This is for a handbook, and the Numbers file is for the member contact information which won’t get too much longer beyond 999, but still a hassle that I may have to work around. Thank you.
