So, this is the seventh time I've tried to restore. I keep getting error 9. I've tried both usb ports and another cable. Now I am trying a new user account. What else can I do? I've already called Apple and don't have access to a store. I get 3/4 of the way through the firmware update and it gives me an error. Very frustrating.

Anyone have the same problem? Suggestions?

I am having the same error message and problems as others. Failing at "Restoring iPhone firmware."

I have been on the phone three different times with Apple:

-Try different cable and USB ports: Didn't work
-Asked for serial number of computer (PowerMac Quad core): Apparently USB on this computer is not compatible according to Apple
-Create new user and try a restore: Didn't work
-Try different computer (MacBook Pro): Didn't work
-Uninstall and Reinstall iTunes: Didn't work
-Last call to Apple and they told me it's possible that the servers are overloaded and to wait. This seems to mean that they actually have no idea what the problem is.

This is pretty pathetic. I'm trying to remain patient but must have a usable phone.

I'll be looking at this thread often.
