heidilinde,

Thanks for getting back to us with those additional details.

Content versions may not be available for a variety of reasons. In the meantime, here's another option to try: Open the Apple TV app, then click on Account > Purchased > TV Shows > uncheck Download HD When Available.

If additional help is needed, please reach out to Apple Media Services using these steps: Contact Apple Support

Have a great rest of your day.

Hi heidilinde,

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you want to buy TV shows in standard definition (SD) from the Apple TV app on your Mac, and I’d love to assist you.

By default, Apple TV will provide you with the best available quality resolution. To change this setting, open the Apple TV app on your Mac > Preferences > Playback > Download Quality > Up to SD.

Keep in mind that if you purchase or rent an SD video, you can’t play higher-quality versions. Learn more here:

Find and watch movies with 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, or Dolby Atmos

From there, use these steps to buy TV shows:

I hope this information is useful. Kind regards.

Hi Jameson.h

Thank you for your comprehensive reply.

Unfortunately, it still does not solve my problem. The suggested setting only provides me with the option to view the tv shows in standard definition, not to buy the tv shows in SD (e.g so still being charged $2.99 to download in SD).

When I buy in iTunes on my iPhone, I pay $1.99 (SD), so the lower SD price is available, so weird it is so hard to accomplice in TV.

Kind regards,

Heidi
