... at an Apple Store or an Apple-authorized Retailer? Was it bought with a Mac?
I also made a call for Apple's Distributor in Vietnam and they said they hadn't checked SN on MM2 too.
Certain accessories are not covered in the CheckCoverage page.
Thanks for your helpful information. However, the packaging doesn’t have any information about S/N checking failure. I think S/N of MM2 is only used for warranty not confirmed that MM2 is fake or authentic. Right?

The literature should have warranty details.

The S/N will not tell you if the MM2 is genuine or a cheap copy.
Uhmmm, I think it's illogical. If sellers want to sell more and more Apple products, they will buy the authentic product and copy that SN for thousands of fake products. They won't be too stupid to counterfeit SN that isn't checked on Apple website because SN shows warranty details.

Yes, and they do copy serial numbers. Try eBay and and you will find very dubious products, especially accessories.

If you copy a valid serial number, it will always provide the same answer to anyone who checks it.
Try the serial number of your Mac and you will get the appropriate details.
In your specific case, where did you buy your MM2?
Hi Mr/Ms,
I can't check serial number of MagicMouse 2 on https://checkcoverage.apple.com/vn/en/ :(( It always show "Pls enter a valid S/N" and I don't know why?
You mean, we can not indentify that it’s fake or not based on S/N. Woaaaa, I always think that SN is powerful numbers which demonstrates the level of MM2’s reliability :)))
I bought it in Vietnam. I also made a call for Apple's Distributor in Vietnam and they said they hadn't checked SN on MM2 too.

Accessories, in general, are warrantied when bought with a main Apple device. If you bought a Mac, the MM2 should be tied to it. If you bought MM2 independently, in most cases, the Apple store is very good about addressing issues.
If you still have the original MM2 packaging, you can check the literature that comes in the box.
If someone puts the same serial number on a 100 MM2s, which are sold to 100 different buyers, and all check the serial number and Apple supports validating them, do the buyers all have a 'genuine' Apple MM2? 👺
The serial numbers can be stolen, copied, and re-used by unscrupulous manufacturers. Did you buy your MM2 from an Apple Store or Apple?
Are you looking for the Serial Number or MAC address? MAC address can be found in System Report -> Bluetooth.
Serial number is inside the MM2, if you remove the batteries.
