Like the squishing of menus into the title bar, Apple seems to have forgotten that users like having a choice. They forget that the court of public opinion on these changes might not tell them what they want to hear, but it will tell them how to avoid adding straws to camel's backs that might get this little black duck investigating the possibility of buying a Microsoft phone.
Apple, just give us the option to put a percentage either over or even instead of the battery icon. And then fix the mistake in iOS 24 or whatever.
