in Charter Mail I get the message: Connections to the server “IMAP.charter.net” on the default ports timed out.

I have not been able to send or receive mail on my iMac (High Sierra) since September.

In Mail I get this message: Connections to the server “IMAP.charter.net” on the default ports timed out.

what happened and what is wrong?

I can send and receive using the Gmail account.

It's my understanding that you're unable to send/receive email with one of your accounts on the iMac. I'd be happy to help you with this. With what you've shared, I would double check the email settings from Charter: Mail Settings Lookup


Then follow the steps in these articles along with checking and comparing your settings:

If you can't receive email on your Mac
