When ANY lightning cable is plugged in to my iPhone XS the cable is not secure at all

My iPhone XS seems to of developed a fault with it over the last month.

When ANY lightning cable is plugged in cable does not "lock in" and is not secure at all

the smallest knock of the cable removes the cable from the phone. How exactly do these connections work? Is it magnetic or something? I've tried blasting compressed air in the port and that hasn't made anything better. Is there anything else I can check before booking a genius bar appointment?
