why are the photos on my phone the only ones on my icloud? I am missing thousands of photos, and i pay for the icloud upgrade? someone help!

What other photos are you expecting to see (e.g., from another device you own such as an iPad)?

iCloud Photos is a syncing service. If you have iCloud Photos turned on, the photos on the device are the same as on iCloud, with the possible exception that some of them may be space-saving optimized versions if you have that option turned on. See https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204264


Apple does not currently offer cloud-only storage for photos. If that is what you want or need, you may want to explore 3rd party options such as Google Photos or Dropbox.
