Text message drafts--Apple needs to catch up to androids!

Omg it's enough to make me throw my iPhone out the window! Is there anyone with enough time on their hands that they can compose a lengthy text message without interruption?

For the 60th time, I just spent 20 min writing a text, was interrupted for 10min and opened my phone to find my message just disappeared! This time I decided I needed to learn the trick for recovering my draft only to learn that apple hasn't figured out how to do that?!?!

It's hard to defend the iPhone when it lacks such common sense features found on every android.
