HELP!!! Can't edit a document created in Word

I am trying to edit a Word document in Pages and for the life of me, I can't edit the text on a header. I isn't selectable . If I add a new page, that text is included on a new page. I need to get a proposal out and I have wasted hour on this. Looking for someone to whom I can send the document who can make the 10 second edit. TIA.

Hi Teri,

I assume I am late to the party. Did you end up copying and pasting into a new doc?

Pages is not a Word clone, and does not expose the original Word content to you for changes. When it opens the Word document, it translates the Word content into Pages own .pages document format, and that is what you are allowed to change. If you were using LibreOffice, or Word, then you would be able to edit the original, native Word document content.

It is possible that in the translation process into Pages document format, the Word header was set to a section master. That would make it uneditable, until you selected the Arrange menu : Section Masters : Make Master Objects Editable. This would place yellow grips around the header content, if that is the issue.

Another possibility is that Pages treated the Word header content as a text box, and locked it, or honored an already locked Word text box, which would also frustrate you. If it is selectable, then on the Arrange tab, near the bottom, select UnLock. If that works, it may still be grouped content, and you may have to select all of the header content, and then also choose UnGroup.
