when I enter "sin(20)" in spotlight, I get a result of 0.913. But the sinus of 20° is 0.342. Is my syntax wrong?
This is in 10.15 Catalina. The screenshot shows a , instead of a . because my locale is set to Germany.

OK, that would be "sind(20)" instead...
Simpler than sin(20 * pi/180) = 0,3420201433
I think I found the problem. spotlight calculator uses "RAD" instead of the standard DEG , that explains the difference. Is there a way to switch spotlight calculator to default to DEG?
Thanks for your reply. The sinus of 20 is 0.342, and not 0.913 as spotlight claims. Just try the MacOS calculator app.
yap just confirmed and indeed shows 0.342 as sin20, probably some issue that will be fixed in the future.
Tried to change spotlight functions, didn't see any option to change calculator only to turn off and on.
