restore gone wrong and data lost
I restored from icloud and have lost all my contacts, apps, etc. I should've restored from my iphone 7plus but that didn't pop up as an option at the time. Is there a way to get my data back?

I ended up chatting w apple support. Turns out the update shut down half way and that's why only some of the data was retrieved. I had to erase the phone and do an icloud update which set everything back to normal. Thank you for your response!
