Error message when sending iTunes gift by email

I get an error message when I try to send an iTunes/apple gift that says "Invalid Gift You must enter your sender's email address." I go to the "send gift" page, enter a recipient email, the amount and date to send. My apple ID is an email address, but it does not seem to recognize it in the "From" field. I tried my secondary email tied on my apple account and tried logging out and back in to apple ID, but no luck. I have successfully sent funds to the same recipient in the past using this method. So frustrating. Any ideas?

Please note that the recipient of your gift must have an Apple ID in your country or region.
