Set up as new phone or restore?

If you have experienced problems with updating your old phone you might want to set up as a new phone.

I have not had issues with my other phones so I just activated the phone on my computer and let itunes do its thing and everything went perfectly.

People on both sides have had issues so there is no clear cut answer here.

Your better off setting them up as new phones. If there is anything that is corrupt on the old backups it will follow it onto the new phone.

Well i can tell you my experience if that helps. As I opened my box put in SSN and then zip code and then restored. Took about 10 min or so not too sure then my phone has been perfect since. Good luck with your descision i would restore though.

There is no disadvantage so to speak. If you recover then everything on your current iphone will be on the new one.

I used the restore route, and I got the numeric power meter from my old 3GS's field test setup. IPhone 4 won't take the field test code, so this is the only way I know to get that feature on the new phone.
