My son's phone has my Apple ID stored in it. How do I get his to work on a family shared account?

I gave my son my old phone and activated a new line for him. The phone has another phone number but it has my Apple ID. Since he is only 11 he has to be on the Family Share plan instead of having his own apple ID. The problem is, is that he can't seem to use the data anywhere and I can't track his phone. I thought I should be able to log myself out of that phone and put his information in it but it isn't letting me.

If you have Family Sharing set up, you can create a separate Apple ID for him to use.

Family Sharing and Apple ID for your child

If you have created a separate ID and you can't log out of your ID, what happens when you try? Error message(s)?

Hi J_Mo4,

I would take a look at the article on how to set up family sharing to see how to add his Apple ID to your family plan.

You'll want to add them to your family group which can be found here, how to add them to your family group.
