The latest iPhone use Facial Recognition to unlock the iPhone. They can also use a Passcode. If Facial Recognition is active when you wake the screen and look at it the padlock at the top will unlock. You can then swipe up from the very bottom of the screen to reveal the Home screen with your apps.

There is no home button, you swipe up from the bottom of the phone.
