What happens to purchased music if I cancel Music subscription

I have had an iTunes account for a good many years and purchased a considerable amount of music (as well as movies). I have been a Music subscriber too. However, for personal reasons, I now wish to use a different Apple ID for purchases and my Apple Music subscription. If I cancel my Apple Music subscription on my old ID, what happens to all the music I purchased or uploaded?

Hello noelbailey,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you'd like to switch Apple ID's for your Apple Music subscription. I'd be happy to answer your question about that.

Take a look at this article: Manage your Apple Music subscription. "If you cancel Apple Music, you'll lose access to the Apple Music catalog, any music that you added to your Library, and the features of Apple Music when your current subscription period ends."

Any music that you purchased would be able to be downloaded with your previous Apple ID, but you wouldn't be able to download it with your new Apple ID.

Take care.

Note that once you sign into iTunes with one ID, there is a 90 day wait before you can sign into it with a different ID. so keeping on swopping IDs isn't practicable. You could set up Family sharing so that the songs on the first ID are available to the second ID.

Set up Family Sharing - Apple Support

Treat the two IDs as different members of the same family (so inviting yourself to join).
