3G vs. 4G?
Why is it that I see 3G on the top left of my screen on my new IPhone 4 instead of 4G?
IMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)
Its the 4th generation iPhone not an iPhone made for a 4G network that ATT does not have.

Because it is a 3G network; AT&T has no 4G network.

That has nothing to do with the phone. What is shown is the telephone standard 3G or Edge.

The phone is called iPhone 4, not iPhone 4G. If it was, it would be on a 4G network. AT&T only has a 3G network now. Sprint is the only carrier with 4G at the moment.

AT&T is in the process to begin rolling out their LTE (4G) network which should begin the first half of next year in some select major markets only initially, but the iPhone 4 is not an LTE (4G) network compatible phone.
