Hello PaulD*,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with emptying your email trash.

1 . Please verify you are deleting emails as per this help article: How to delete emails on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Also verify your settings, as this may be related to settings on your device of the server.

2. Is your email account a POP or IMAP account? You can verify your settings using this link: Apple Mail Settings Lookup

3. If your account is a POP email, you may need this help article: Get help if you have issues using a POP email account with more than one device - Apple Support

4. It may be beneficial to upgrade your iOS version if you are running iOS 13. The last update is iOS 13.2: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Thanks and have a wonderful day.

Hi Chris_g1,

Thanks for your response. Gmail has worked fine until 13.2 upgrade. I have not made any changes to the setup, so I think the problem is related to the upgrade. The MAC is still on current updates for Mojave. I can't sync Reminders either, because Apple is forcing upgrade to Catalina IOS!# across all devices. I can set and sync Reminders from my iPhone and Delete mail on my MAC. I guess I will live with this until my third party vendors are stable with Catalina.

Thanks again.
