Which Touch ID gen iPad 6th and 7th generations have?
I would like to know.
iPad

iPad
I think it’s indeed the first one.
See this, it provides information on each of the iPads. It just states Touch ID in the specs. Identify your iPad model - Apple Support
The OP is quite correct - in that TouchID sensors are either first or second generation - the latter being considerably quicker in reading a fingerprint.
I don’t recall the exact device model distribution, however, in general, the newer higher-spec models (such as iPad Pro 2nd Gen and 10.5” - and some later models of iPhone) have second generation TouchID sensors. Further known examples are iPhone SE (first gen’ TouchID), iPhone8/8+ (second gen’ TouchID).
Apple’s on-line spec’ listings did make differentiation between the sensors - but only whilst TouchID was the prevalent technology and “current” devices where shipping with one or other variant of the sensor,. Currently, with mainstream devices deprecating TouchID in favour of FaceID, Apple’s on-line spec’s for these devices don’t now appear to detail this specific information.
This Wikipedia page describes the TouchID technology - and provides some information as to the two sensor generations and their implementation across device models:

I hope this clarification provides some assistance in confirming that differentiation does exist for TouchID.
What do you mean, which Touch ID? Touch ID is Touch ID, there are no different versions.
No one that volunteers here reads every spec for every device, and Apple is notoriously closed mouthed about some features of their devices. Chris, I am sure, is very much an apple user, so am I (I’ve used macs for the better part of 15 years and an ipad or iTouch for over 10).
Little changes like this are like the laminated vs non laminated screen. Little alterations that have negligible affect up on function.
Yes, I'm an Apple user, thank you. I've spent a great deal of time here on ASC, and have provided information and answers to a great number of people, as indicated by my Level. When I had checked into Touch ID, which I just used, not studied, I provided the information that Apple provided, which did not indicate first or second generation. No need to be condescending about my knowledge of all Apple products. My iPad Pro uses Face ID. I've used Touch ID in the past, and currently have Face ID on both my iPhone 11 Pro and iPad Pro. Good luck with your Apple products.
I mean generation. There are differences.
I have a 6th gen iPad and the Touch ID unlocks my device in 1-2 seconds, so not sure what generation it is but even if I have the first gen sensor I find the couple of seconds quite acceptable.
Has no Touch ID on iPad
I’m quite surprised you didn't even know there are generations of Touch ID... Are you sure you’re an Apple user? For some reason, Apple simply doesn’t clarify that fact on its site.
Hope it’s so, but to me it’s pretty noticeable in case if you’ve been used this devices, but maybe he didn’t pay attention to it. Thanks for your help!
Understood. Thank you too.
OP is correct.
iPhone 5s and 6 / 6 Plus had the first gen Touch ID, while iPhone 6s and up had the second gen Touch ID which unlocked the phone noticeably faster. SE however retained the first gen.
