Apple Notes Content in Tables Has Disappeared

I have recently discovered that after an update to IoS 13.1.3, Information I had created or reformatted inside a note, into a table, has now disappeared! There appears to be one empty cell in its place. Of course as they are connected via iCloud, all my apple devices are showing the same issue. I'd spent over an hour creating this table and thought it made it easier to reference the content but now it appears to have gone entirely. Will this issue be fixable through a further IoS update or is this data lost for good?

I call apple and I was led to follow these steps: I had to restore my phone to an earlier backup, remember to turn your phone to airplane mode immediately after the restore is done to avoid iCloud sync. Then go to notes and retrieve the desired notes as it was as of the date of that back up. I took screenshots and emailed to myself the notes in question so my data is back.

A very unfortunately glitch but all isn't lost.

Thanks.

Apple helped me recover from the same exact issue you described for one of my notes that was affected by this bug. They were unable to help me with the other note, because my backup had the error in it. I am still working with them on a solution. Feel free to follow. After 12 years of using iOS, I find Apple’s free default iOS Notes app to be unreliable, unstable and, generally, untrustworthy of saving notes long-term within an iOS device, as well as thin on features.

While easy and straightforward to use, Apple ONLY ever updates their free Notes app once a year with a major iOS release and I find it only minimally useful as it only has a minimal amount of features, with no real organisation of notes.

Everyone that uses the free Apple Notes app would be better off just paying for any of the popular Notes apps that are a whole lot more stable and trustworthy and get updated on a constant and regular basis.

The free Apple Notes app has always been problematic and one of its big issues is losing notes and edits.

The third party notes apps I use have been very trouble free, for me, for many years and have never lost a note or any edits of notes and can be backed up to other data storage/backup services other than just iCloud, which is data “syncing” service and not really a data backup service .

Great to hear from you, MichelPM! While I did not begin this thread, let me thank you on behalf of the community for your contributions. I believe you may have identified what appears to be Apple's reluctance to support their product to the point of its being a potential security issue. That is why I attempted to involve Apple's Product-Security department in resolving the disappearing-tables issue. They refused and "kicked the can" back to Apple Support. I would have expected an Apple-brand in-the-box packaged app to be one of the most reliable, if not one of the apps more subject to support and patching/fixing, especially when viewed in light of security issues; although, they may have their finger on the exact nature and cause of the species of issue discussed in this thread to the point that they are comfortable from a security standpoint and are all for leaving it alone. Thank you for your insight and thought-provoking descriptions of iCloud. Best regards!

Sadly I must agree. Having moved all my notes from Evernote, I have found Apple Notes to be highly unreliable.

I am also surprised that the issue of deleted tables within Notes; clearly a bug, has received no response from Apple, other than a very questionable ’fix’ by reinstating a backup and quickly closing web connections to beat the sync!! Ridiculous!

Please share the 3rd party apps you yse and any suggestions on how to migrate.

Many thanks

Other than cutting and pasting or emailing notes from one app to another or maybe select/dragging notes in multitasking mode from one notes app to another, there is no real group migration of notes from the iOS Notes app to other text/notes apps.
