It's unlikely that a file deleted after the Trash is emptied is recoverable without a professional recovery service. If however you have a TIme Machine backup, it's pretty easy. You might consider implementing a TM backup for the future.

As soon as you empty the Trash, the deleted item(s) are marked by the operating system as reusable storage locations, and when it needs that space, your files no longer exist for recovery. Macjack's Time Machine recommendation is your recovery solution.
If it ever happens again you have to quit using the drive & boot from a different drive to run the recovery software, otherwise it's likely the freed space holding the deleted file will be overwritten.
It is almost impossible to recover deleted items if you are using an SSD as the SSD will erase the blocks where the deleted data was located, plus those deleted blocks are no longer accessible by the OS. Even with a hard drive recovering deleted data is difficult unless you immediately stop using the drive since you risk overwriting the data you are seeking.
This is why users should always have good verified working backups.
What recovery software did you get? There is no guarantee it will be able to get your file back, but it can't hurt to try. Use your system as little as possible until you try.
Good luck...
Oh yeah... I forgot SSDs do that! :O
