Thumbnailer allows me to see a picture of my Embrilliance files, in my case PES format and it doesn't work.

Thumbnailer is made by Embrilliance and they said it is an Apple problem as some users do not have a problem. I have done everything Embrilliance said to do and no luck.

Thumbnailer is what the name implies, it shows a Thumbnail of my PES file, or it did before updating to Catalina. It does show a thumbnail of my PDF files. Without it working, it is like looking blindly at the file with no clue as to what it looks like.

This is a fellow user supported community, and Apple product teams do not participate here. They also do not fix third-party vendor software issues, as those remain the responsibility of that vendor.

On the Embrilliance Thumbnailer downloads page, they actually have a version 2.98 pkg (Thumbnailer298CatalinaSetup.pkg) that they claim was built on Catalina. But you need to grant the application full disk access in System Preferences : Security & Privacy : Privacy tab : Full Disk Access where you would click the + symbol and navigate to the Thumbnailer application and grant it full disk access:

As it is installed from without of the Mac App Store, you may also need to follow the Apple article, Safely open apps on your Mac, to pass the Catalina security validation.

Try this. Uninstall Embrilliance and Thumbnailer. Go to Apple in the upper left-hand corner and restart your computer then re-install Embrilliance and Thumbnailer with the Catalina icon. Don’t forget to go in and do the allow button I forgot the exact wording for it right now. Then restart your machine and then just close it down and let it go into sleep mode for about an hour and open it back up and see what happens that’s what I did and it made mine work. Good luck to you I know how frustrating it is not to have it working properly.

I’d be willing to try to contact you directly if you think that would help as long as you’re in the US.

I am so sorry you can’t get yours working. Also sorry you had some bad luck with one of the companies. Guess I’ve been fortunate. I’ve been dealing with Apple since 2013 and couldn’t be happier with their tech support no matter the problem. I’ve always been surprised at how quickly Embrilliance got back to me with my problems. Not sure how long I’ve used Embrilliance, but as soon as I found out they supposed Apple OS, I purchased it. Previously I’d been using Embird since 2001. I even formatted my hard drive to use Apple on one side and Windows on the other. Now that was hard on me.

Oh yes, I just thought of one more thing. I had been checking only the Brother formats to show up in my Thumbnailer. But the last time I checked everything and that’s when it started working. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this earlier but I didn’t. Give that a try.

Mine is still not working and I’ve done all the suggestions, plus called Apple for assistance. Today I’m going to try to go back using TimeMachine and install the last update I did in June when the software worked. Fingers crossed. Embrillance says they have done their part and Apple says this is not their issue, so I’m stuck at this point and I’m hoping this option works.
