MUSIC : How to select multiple songs with new version of Music ?

Hi,

With the new version of Music (Version 1.0.0.426), when you research a song in your library, if the result is multiple, you can only select 1 song at the time. Basically if I want to select multiple songs, it seems to be impossible. Does anyone know ?

Thanks

J.

If you want to search and select multiple items in your music library with the new Apple music, don't use the search bar.

There is a filter bar that does what you are asking. Apple has hidden this feature and is only shown when you request it.

Select a Library category (Songs, Albums, Artist) and go to View->"Show Filter Field" (Command-Shift F). This will pop up a new text box more on the right that will remove items from the list as you type. Multiple selections are then possible with the Command key. You will have to turn on the filter each time you switch library categories.

I was getting frustrated with this too until I saw the menu filter option.

Hey there J3nny_Jen,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having issues selecting multiple songs in Music on Catalina. I’ll be happy to help with this. When using the Search option in Music it is expected that you can only select one song from the search results. However, you may be able to accomplish what you're looking to do by using the Songs view in Music:

  • Select Songs > Click on "Name" at the top of the list of songs to sort your music by song title.
    • Alternatively you can select View > Sort By from the drop down menus at the top of your screen.
  • Start typing the name of the song you're searching and your library should jump to where these are sorted together by title.
  • You can use these same steps to sort by Artist or Album as well.

If you'd like to request the ability to make multiple selections from search results in Music, let Apple know here: Product Feedback

Cheers.
