Mouse scroll wheel jumpy all the sudden

When scrolling while using the mouse scroll wheel, it jumps erratically rendering it pretty much useless! I thought the mouse was malfunctioning so I bought another one and it's doing the same thing. The previous mouse had worked fine for the past 4 years without any problems and the replacement is the exact same model (VicTsing MM057 2.4G Wireless Mouse). Could this be OS related? Catalina is now available but haven't updated yet. The jumping mouse problem has only been on Mojave.

Any suggestions?

With hardware issues between macOS and third-party products, avoid upgrading to a newer macOS because the support for any 32-bit drivers will be gone under Catalina macOS 10.15. While Mojave 10.14.x still supports them.

One less issue to resolve, or depending on what your Mac has installed, several? Maybe a can-full, unless you've fully updated to 64-bit apps and drivers. Avoid upgrade to macOS to solve these issues.

And I have no answer for your initial Q: while hopeful

a reset may help (NVRAM-PRAM? ~ or SMC?)
