logic pro x upgrade wont work

After not using logic for a few years. I opened it to find that It would not do anything without an upgrade. I purchased the latest version (today 10/28/19). it gave me the option to open an existing song I made in my previous version but then said I needed to save it in the new format. I said ok and then I got this message "Ultrabeat - Please locate: un_BD-03-C1-04_2.aif". I don't have any idea where this is nor do I care. Furthermore, it won't let me start a new song or do anything at all even after quitting Logic and restarting. it just goes back to where it was before quitting. Thanks for any help.

This is the problem, since taking this action to convert an existing song to the new version this is all that will happen. I am stuck in this loop with no way to preempt logic from trying to open this file upon reboot of program.

It seems, you tried to open an old logic song, with some missing ultrabeat samples. and now, logic tries to open and save the song in a new format but can't find the samples.

ā€¢ "skip" or "cancel" the ultrabeat message(s) until the song opens.

ā€¢ you should be able now to save (File -> save) and to close the song (File -> Close project) and to open a new song from the menu (File -> New).

ā€¢ I recommend to adjust the preferences, not to "open the most recent project" at startup.

Logic Pro X -> Preferences -> General -> Project Handling -> Startup Action

yoyoBen, I agree with your assessment. Thanks

The cancel remedy does not work as my Mac just thinks and then returns to the same window over and over again.

all relevant options in my menu bar lead to grayed out choices. šŸ˜•

I made the error of thinking that after once cancellation the new missing file name was the same, it was slightly different. I walked my way through 20-30 cancellations and it eventually gave me an empty new folder with the aforementioned original song title. So, at least I can now create new content. Thanks for your help. šŸ‘šŸ»
