Face ID Work or Not in iPhone X?

First of all I am a new user of iPhone x and before today I never even thought of using it, but now I work at a big company and everyone on there used to have a mac laptop and I Had to do the same. At first it used to be weird using it but now I find it easy and nice, so now I'm thinking of buying an iPhone and here I come to know that I have heard a lot about:

iPhone is more secure than android and windows
Provide good interface and easy to use

And for that reason one is refusing to buy my iPhone x but one thing is still bothering me is that when I search for it, most people say that some features in it does not work sometimes like Face ID. So first of all I read what is "Face Verification" As much as I can go on about this. And I think iPhone x don't even have a finger scanner, I'm wondering how this can b possible as big as this brand is, I don't think there is anything, if anything, please tell me so I can avoid loss.

Because I think face ID scanner is the best way to protect your personal data from others. We cannot ignore it.
