Trying to update Homepod software. I got to update requested and have been at a spinning wheel of death since. I've tried restarting my phone and homepod, but still no luck. Any suggestions?

There is a bug with iOS 13.2 for HomePod that will brick your device if you attempt to reset it. If your HomePod hasn't yet updated then I suggest cancelling the update. Turn off automatic updating for HomePod, power cycle the device and force quit the Home app. You should find the update notification disappears and you can wait for a new release. If it has updated then don't attempt to reset it or remove from the Home app.

That's because it was silently pulled by Apple without publicly acknowledging that they released this software version 13.2 for the HomePod with a major bug. It will brick your speaker and can only be sent to Apple for repair/replacement. Doing something as simple as removing the speaker from the Home App will cause the HomePod's audioOS to be stuck in a software loop. It's not the user's fault but Apple's failure in the HomePod department with responsibly performing basic QA checks.

You can check which version of iOS is installed with "Hey Siri, iOS version". You should be able to repeat the steps of making sure that automatic updating for HomePod is disabled, then power cycle the device, force quit the Home app and maybe reboot your iOS device for good measure to remove the pending update notification. I had four that were pending but now when I check in the Home app I'm told 12.4 is the current version and there are no updates.

I've just been onto support about this and the first person tried lots of stuff and then said he'd call back on my landline and didnt! One of the thing was the usual unplug and plug back in. This removed one notification but left the other for my other HomePod. When I managed to get back through to them, the guy then told me about the update being pulled (bad that the first guy wasn't aware!) I haven't removed from the home app but I'm concerned that the unplug and plug back in will cause it to be bricked when the software finally updates (I don't have the spinning white light in the top which apparently is the main issue). Would someone be able to tell me if they think mine will be ok? Thanks
