MacBook Photos: Titles / Filenames Beneath Thumbnails

After updating to Catalina, I can't get Photos to show titles underneath the thumbnails.


View / Metadata / Titles is check marked.


MacBook Pro, early 2015

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.15

The update macOS 10.15.1 has just be released. It should fix this problem.

After updating to macOS 10.15.1

  • you should be again able to show the filenames below the thumbnails in All Photos.
  • you should be able again to to sort the photos in smart albums
  • you should be able again to filter the All Photos view with the "Showing" filter.

You're welcome. It is good to have Photos (nearly) back to normal. 😀. If the titles are still not shown in All Photos and the thumbnails are square, you may need to switch the aspect ratio by clicking the tiny rectangle between the traffic light and the size slider.
