WiFi and Hotspot Connectivity

It appears that I am connected to WiFi in settings (blue check mark next to WiFi network that has been selected). However, there is not WiFi icon in upper hand corner. Same problem when trying to connect to hotspot.

hotspot symbol instead of wifi I keep getting the hotspot symbol instead of WiFi when I connect to a secure one, on my 14 pro. The WiFi symbol works perfectly well with the 13. This issue cropped up a week back. Any ideas on why this may be?
