iPhone 11 YouTube Quality

I just got an iPhone 11 and I was very excited to see watch videos on my device. However I have been running into an issue. Whenever I try to watch a video on the YouTube app it always plays in very low and pixelated blurry quality. Even if I try to change the settings and video quality, nothing happens. Regardless of if I set the video to 144p or 720p the video looks the same. I know the phone can play good quality videos because the videos I take in photos look really good. Is this normal? Is the screen supposed to look like this? Is this an issue with the YouTube App? Is anyone else experiencing this? Is my iPhone a defective model? Please Help! Thanks
