I hate Apple's 2 step verification / authentication. VERY user unfriendly. WHY CAN'T I OPT OUT? Thinking of buying an Android as this is a HORRIBLE requirement.

Can someone advise on how to turn this off? It's EXTREMELY cumbersome and very poorly thought out. My device is malfunctioning, I need to use ICloud to reset. However, 2 step verification requires an authorization code to be sent to the device, (which is malfunctioning), and isn't accessible. It's impossible to get around. Also requiring a separate email address for "verification" is ridiculous. I don't have 2 email addresses. I have one. I only use one. Having to set up a separate email account for Apple's verification is ridiculous. What happened to the "user friendly" devices, processes, etc

2 Step Verification or 2 Factor Authentication?

2 Step Verification

How do I turn off two-step verification?

Sign in to your Apple ID account page.

In the Security section, Click Edit.

Click Turn Off two-step verification.

Create new security questions and verify your date of birth.

You'll get an email confirming that two-step verification for your Apple ID is off.

2 Factor Authentication

From the article below. If it has been on longer than 2 weeks, you can't turn it off.

Can I turn off two-factor authentication after I’ve turned it on?

If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off. Certain features in the latest versions of iOS and macOS require this extra level of security, which is designed to protect your information. If you recently updated your account, however, you can unenroll for a period of two weeks. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings. Keep in mind, this makes your account less secure and means that you can't use features that require a higher level of security.

If you want to, you can send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.
