I have macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 how can I download macOS Catalina 10.15?

Running macOS High Sierra. How can I download macOS Catalina 10.15. Following instructions on website takes me in a circle with no resolution on upgrading from my pre-2012 27" imac. In this instance, am I abandoned and out of luck?

A pre-2012 iMac cannot be upgraded to Catalina. High Sierra is as far as it can go.
