taking a screen shot

MacBook Pro, High Sierra

Have, for the past few weeks been searching for how to take a screenshot. I searched all forums, and finally found the correct solution.

Keyboard commands. Shift + Command +3 or 4 or 5

will NOT work if you use the keys on the left hand side of the keyboard.

I finally discovered one reply that said

"use the keys on the RIGHT side of the keyboard"

I was pleasantly surprised to find that it worked perfectly

Can't remember who had contributed that solution. But whoever it was THANK YOU VERY MUCH

K Shaffer.

I opened the Keyboard viewer and could conform that when I use the RHS Command key and then press the LHS Shiift, both keys are highlighted . However, when I use the LHS Command key and LHS Shift the Shift highlight is removed from the viewer. So that explains why the screenshot does not work with the (normally used) LHS keys.

Great. Thanks

I also viewed the Mac Help Guide in Table of Contents - high sierra

However I couldn't figure out how to download he document for offline reading.

Is there some way to do that?

I tried taking a screen shot and it worked, and the file got saved to my desktop as an image file. I am sure I will find instructions online about how to change the default SAVE location.

My Finder lists in Favorites> Applications, Downloads, Recent, Airdrops

and below that

iCloud> iCloud Drive, Desktop, Documents

How do I create and save a file to a "local" Documents folder. I tried creating one in Favorites but couldn't.

I have been using an IBM since 1990, and so I was trying to make a local Documents folder.

Do I need to open a fresh Post to ask this question?

Thanks a million

Mine is a MBP 15" mid-2012 so it does not qualify for the Keyboard service program

What did/does the MBP Keyboard service program do?

Do you have a suggestion for my other query:
