Why can't I update MacBook Pro (early 2015, 8 Gb RAM) from OS 10.13.6 to Mojave 10.14
Have you tried going to your Applications folder and finding "Install Mac OS Mojave" then double-clicking the installer to begin?
Yes, but the downloader defaults to Mojave 14.6, which requires 14.0 to load.
I think the issue is that you've been trying to install an update, rather than the upgrade. The link I posted should take you directly to the full Mojave upgrade installer? (it will install Mojave 10.14.6, there's no Mojave 10.14.0 or any other version needed or available)

Mojave downloads ok, but does not install. Using App Store for downloads.
How to get the installer to use Mojave 10.0 or .1 instead of the default 10.6?
