How can I dictate into an App using the iMAC?

You didn't say what model iMac you have and the version of macOS you are running. If you are running Catalina (10.15) then you can use the built in dictation feature that rkaufmann87 mentioned. Here is some information on how to use it:

Why not use the Dictation app pre-installed on your computer?

Thanks very much. Duh. Thank you for the link. Believe it or not, I searched the Apple website looking for this. Is was searching for dictation and not voice control.
