Transferring files from numbers on a Mac to numbers on iPad

Does anyone have an idea on how to transfer files from numbers or MS office Excel from a Mac to the iPad? According to Apple's Numbers' page it should be a matter of dragging the files from the Mac to iTunes once the iPad is connected.

Please help.

Power Mac G5, Mac OS X (10.5.5)

You should also look at Cloud services like Dropbox (free) and MobileMe. Also look at iFiles in the App store. That works well too.

Just did and was easy.
connect pad to mac
open ITunes
Open your app page
Open Numbers on pad
scroll all the way to bottom on app page and you will see on the left icon for Numbers and on right box that says something like 'import'. Select the file on your mac.
It moves over.
These instructions (written better) are on help in Numbers in your pad
