Most functions on iphone5 will disappear Sunday if the IOS is not updated to 10.3.4. Mine is at 10.3.3 and even Apple support cannot update it. They finally said my version was close enough. Is that true?

Only the iPhone 5 needs to be updated, not the iPhone 5c or iPhone 5s. Yours will continue to work as is.

It's not true, 10.3.3 is not good enough, only 10.3.4 includes the bug fix, but it's not necessary for your device, since you have the 5c, and there is no 10.3.4 for the 5c, only for the 5. 5c and 5s do not need this, they continue to work.
