Sound comes out of my phone speaker even though my headphones are plugged in

I need to know when my headphones are plugged in and I play music on my iPhone but the sound come out of my phone speakers. What do you think I should do about this problem?

Fully insert the headphones into the jack.

clean the port on the phone.
