Why did I receive an Apple TV app on my phones and ipad.

Today my iPhone 11, iPhone 8, and iPad air all have an Apple TV app that wasn't there before. The iPhone 11 was purchased 1 month ago, the iPhone 8, 9 months ago, the iPad 3 years ago.

If I open these will I be charged? To my knowledge I did nothing to ask for them. I know little about what Apple TV is and don't have interest in another video source. Why are they there? What's this about? How did Apple get them to me?

Simply opening the app will do nothing, it is simply a portal for viewing content from compatible streaming services as well as any iTunes rentals/purchases. If one selected content from an Apple TV channel then they would be prompted to start the free trial and told when they would be charged, and could go into their account at any time to cancel. Content not available from Apple TV channels will integrate but will playback in it's own app so users would be prompted to install a 3rd party app, and would be signing up for an account with that provider. At no time will anything be automatically billed without a users consent.
