Text to Speak won't update voices after changing it in accessibility

Hi I'm running Mac OS Catalina on a late 2013 Macbook Pro and I'm an avid user of text to speech where I just highlight what I want rea. It's saved my life multiple times with proof reading my papers before submitting them and when I'm cooking dinner and want to read an article but can't look at the screen.

Recently I found out I can use the new (more natural) siri voice to do text to speech and I update my voice from Alex to Siri in accessibility yet, I still have Alex reading to me like a robot from 1995. I've tried rebooting my Mac and doing a hard reboot but that hasn't fixed. I really don't want to have to reinstall the OS because that's going to take for ever. So I thought before I do that I would ask if this is a known bug and or is it actually not supported on my mac? It would really be nice to have a lively voice doing the reading.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
