iPhone X - iOS 13 - FaceTime rear camera issues

My wife has had an issue with her phone since updating to iOS 13 where her FaceTime call pauses if she turns the camera around to the rear one. If she then tries to turn the camera back around to the front one again, the receiver of the call just sees the Paused screen. The only way to get out of this is to hang up the call and place the call once again. I've checked the Camera and FaceTime settings and also done a hard restart of her phone, but it still keeps happening.

If anyone has seen this issue, I'd like to hear whether it's something you've been able to fix or not.

Hello FA57TAZ,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with FaceTime and the rear camera.

Since it sounds like the app is freezing, please start with this help article: If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open - Apple Support

If you need more help, it may be beneficial to reinstall iOS using iTunes. Before reinstalling you should make a backup of your data before the next steps. You can make a backup in iCloud or iTunes using this article: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

After your data is backed up, you can reinstall iOS using iTunes. The reason we need to use iTunes for this step is to get a new copy of iOS installed to your device. Use this article to reinstall the iOS: If you can‘t update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Please pay close attention when you reach step 4. Once iOS is reinstalled, test if the issue is still occurring.

Thanks again and have a great rest of your day.
