Original Apple TV
We purchased an Apple TV in 2008. But frankly haven't used it in 5 years. Can we still use it for new Apple TV+?

If it were a big aluminum box then it's the original (1st gen). This is no longer able to access the iTunes store nor sync and is EOL
If it's a small black box then it's a 2nd gen. It is no longer supported and classified as obsolete. But it can still be used with it's existing functions. However, since it is 9 year old hardware it would not be uncommon for issues to appear.
Apple TV + requires the TV app, which is only available on the 3rd gen or later.
