Apple services in Gabon

Hello,

I have been using Apple products for nearly 3 years now. The devices themselves work perfectly well. But here are the issues I've been experiencing so far in the usage.

  1. When adding a payment method, I cannot choose Gabon among the countries listed because it isn't there. I don't know if they forgot this country but it's clear that I can't select "Gabon" as country for payment methods neither on my MacBook Pro nor on my iPhone X. At the beginning, I have been using "Chad" as country with a VISA card issued in Gabon and it was working till few days ago. Also, when I was in South Africa, I have been able to use some VISA cards from there as well. But now as I'm back in Gabon none of these methods is working. I thought Apple will notice the issue itself and solve it but nothing has changed till now.
  2. Here is the reminder I keep receiving from Apple "This is a reminder to have the battery replaced in your 15-inch MacBook Pro. Apple has determined that the battery may overheat and pose a fire safety risk." . I really appreciate the way Apple cares about its customers safety but my struggle is that there is no Apple Authorized Services Providers in Gabon. I spent time checking on the Apple support website but I only found 2 countries in Africa where there are Apple Authorized Services Providers ("Egypt" and "South Africa"). I tried to call them but any of my calls went through. I could have emailed them if there were email adresses, but there aren't. I also tried to directly respond to the emails from Apple but I was told those emails were not monitored.

What can I do, please?

Try entering your location in this web page:

https://locate.apple.com/amei/en/

There may be an Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP). For example, I found this one: https://locate.apple.com/ga/en/service/?pt=4&lat=0.388743&***=9.4474791&address=Libreville

As for the payment method, you need that for online services such as media, but APple does not offer those service in all countries.

Availability of Apple Media Services - https://support.apple.com/HT204411 - "Learn if you can buy apps, movies, music, books, and more, or use Apple Podcasts or Apple News, in your country or region." - If your country is not listed then you cannot buy anything (and there is no need for a payment method).

You can continue to use them if you wish, you will just be limited in certain features. I have access to all those services but I do not buy things from the media store, I do not get any apps for which I have to pay or use a subscription, I limit myself to the 5 GB free iCloud storage (which you can use with iCloud Drive within those limits). I have never had to enter a payment method for my account. So to me it wouldn't really make any difference.

Thank you so much for your answer Limnos.

This is the only store I found via the link you sent "DBA ISTORE - PTI GABON". I'll try to reach out to them as soon as possible. But for now their phone number is not working.

Regarding the availability of Apple Media Services, I've checked. Indeed, Gabon is not listed. So does it mean that I should stop using Apple products in Gabon? Because for me, it's worthless if I cannot use iCloud Drive or other Apple services on my computer and my phone.
