get rid of blue highlight around cursor

I just did the latest macOS Catalina upgrade. Unfortunately, now my cursor has a blue highlight, or blue halo around it. Regardless of whether it is a pointer, bar, or hand it is there. How do I get rid of it? It is very distracting and I find it hard on my eyes. Since I use night mode I find it even more glaring and intrusive. I have looked and do not find an easy solution to disable it.

'May or may not stick, but I was digging around in settings and under

Settings

Display

Color

I found a "calibration" option. I clicked through the steps, changing nothing, and when finished it gave me a new "profile" entitled "Color LCD Calibrated."

The blue highlight then disappeared (at least it has for now).

For the record, I made all of these adjustments while in Night Shift mode (maximum "warm-ness"). So far, even if I turn off Night Shift and turn it back on, the blue highlight does not return.

Even though macOS Catalina has a Nightshift mode I have continued using f.lux. I turned it off to see how the colours of the two compare. f.lux moves the screen from Daytime mode through Sunset and finally Bedtime. It also gives you more control of the colours. I was into Bedtime mode and this is a change they made with their app. I found that out when I turned it off to compare what b it was like vs the Apple Nighttime mode.
